I am a qualified counsellor offering sessions to individuals and couples, in person and online.
I offer a compassionate, non-judgemental and if needed, a challenging space for people wanting to explore their experience of the world. Working in an integrative way, I combine knowledge from Western models of psychotherapy with Buddhist psychology and somatic wisdom.

What is therapy?
Therapy is a safe and confidential space for you to explore your life's challenges. Sessions are mainly in a talk therapy style of empathic listening, but we can also use creative methods such as drawing and projective work, as well as somatic (body) awareness and mindfulness if needed.
Sessions last for 50 minutes and are usually weekly, they can be long or short term. I see people in person when possible, if not, I am happy to work online or by telephone.
We can look at your life together as well as looking at the here and now of the therapeutic relationship. It is through this collaboration that I believe the possibility for change and healing can occur.
Why come to therapy?
People come to therapy for all sorts of reasons. Therapy can help you to understand and make sense of your world. Perhaps you are coping with a difficult event or feel you are not coping at all. You may want to explore past experiences or focus on new tools to live in a more engaged way. I can assist you in this process.
My sessions are client led, informed by the belief that you are the expert on your experience.
I have experience in working with grief, loss, depression, anxiety, panic attacks, bullying, stress, addiction, trauma and relationships issues.
Couples therapy
I aim to provide a safe, confidential and empathic space for you and your partner to explore any challenges you are facing in your relationship, regardless of age, race, religious beliefs, gender identity, or sexual orientation.
Common relationship issues that can be worked through are:
-
Communication difficulties
-
Loss of connection
-
Lack of intimacy
-
Sexual dissatisfaction
-
Infidelity
-
Repeating arguments
-
Feelings of resentment
-
Mistrust
-
Misunderstandings
-
Tensions resulting from differences
I recognise that conflict in relationships can indicate the potential for personal growth, but sometimes we need support in finding our way.
Sessions last for 60 minutes and are usually weekly, they can be long or short term. I will see you in person when possible, if not, I am happy to work online. Please contact me if you would like any more information.
Testimonials
“When I am talking to Tess I sense how carefully she listens and attends to my words so that I feel she is right there with me. There’s something about Tess’s steady, calm and diligent attention which enables me to speak freely and in safety so that the words that come out reveal things I could not have known on my own. I have consistently felt Tess’s commitment to helping me; her kindness alongside her trustworthiness and dependability enable me to feel safe to be much more open than I’m normally able. Tess is both very empathic and very clear with her boundaries which means I feel seen and understood. For me, it is these outstanding qualities which make Tess an excellent counsellor. The journey with Tess has been deeply healing.” BR, March 2021

"Tess has been my Counsellor now for almost a year after unexpectedly losing both parents. During this year she has helped me so much by teaching me different coping mechanisms such as breathing exercises and helping me to prioritize my grief, to understand it and to make it easier for me to cope with daily life. During this time I have also lost more loved ones and she has been there for me, supported me, helped me on my worse days and given me strength and capabilities to carry on. I am so very thankful of her and all that she has done and is continuing to do so with me. I cannot recommend her enough!" Elaine, Feb 2021
